Research Strategy

Land & Water Australia's R&D Investment

Investing in R&D for sustainable natural resource management is Land & Water Australia's core business and our highest priority. Our R&D management processes are focussed on:

  • the identification of national priorities;
  • selection of topics where we can add most value;
  • development of the most effective interventions;
  • design and implementation of the research and adoption process; and
  • evaluation of the results.

Our Research Investment Performance Indicator

Generation of new knowledge useful to the sustainable management and use of Australia's natural resources

Structure

Our research portfolio is managed by three groups: Sustainable Landscapes, Sustainable Industries, and People and Knowledge.

We continue to strengthen our capacity to look across these areas and manage our whole portfolio of current and previous R&D in a comprehensive and integrated way.

While no group focuses on a single type of research, target audience or scale of activity, there are broad differences across them which serve to characterise them.

An overarching principle for all research will be to ensure that eachprogramme and project draws upon the appropriate range of disciplines to address the typically complex NRM problems.
