The Managing Climate Variability Program is seeking a Chairperson to give oversight to, set strategic direction of and chair the Program Management Committee.
The Program is a collaboration across government and industry research and development investors, delivering climate applications research and the tools for improving climate risk management. This phase of investment has a strong focus on developing more accurate and longer term seasonal forecasts for Australia's primary industries. The Chair will have practical farming experience and have a strong interest in climate science and applications in Australian agriculture.
A workload of at least 10 days per annum is envisaged, including attendance at Program management meetings and teleconferences, representing the Program at events and meeting with prospective and existing investors and research providers. Remuneration is at a daily rate set by Australian Government guidelines with reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses.
