Knowledge for Regional NRM Program
Land & Water Australia invites the submission of a proposal for the trial operation of a decision support advisory service for regional NRM bodies.
A significant part of the Knowledge for Regional NRM Program aims to improve the NRM knowledge system through supporting knowledge brokering within the NRM sector: primarily the 56 regional bodies across Australia.
The selection of appropriate decision making approaches can have a large impact on the quality of decisions made and the effectiveness of planning processes. It has been identified that regional bodies require advice when selecting decision making approaches that may be, for example, embedded in software-based Decision Support Tools, outlined as decision processes/techniques in document-form, or be generic decision approaches such as enlisting expert panels.
The objectives of this trial are:
- to provide regional NRM bodies with independent advice on the selection of decision making approaches, and
- to examine and gather evidence of the value in providing regional bodies with access to an independent advisory service for the selection of decision making approaches.
While this is a trial, there may be opportunities to continue successful services, subject to the availability of funds in the future. In addition, the successful tender will have the opportunity to build relationships and their reputation as a broker in the regions.
Details of the tender including task specifications and selection criteria are available below or by contacting Claire Harris: claire.harris@lwa.gov.au or (02) 6263 6082.
Proposals must be received by Land & Water Australia by email no later than 5pm AEDT 18
January 2008 with one hardcopy received by mail shortly after.
