While climate change poses considerable challenges for Australian agriculture, it also offers exciting new opportunities for our innovative farmers - including the development and production of renewable energies.
The opportunities for Western Australian farmers to become involved in new energies and carbon markets are being researched by Mark McHenry, with help from Land & Water Australia as part of the Australian Government Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Mr McHenry has won $10,000 to help purchase the instruments needed to collect and evaluate the data he is using to evaluate the cost effectiveness of the alternatives for energy provision in remote areas.
