The Tropical Rivers and Coastal Knowledge (TRACK) research hub is a major new research initiative that brings together a multidisciplinary consortium to focus on the rivers and coasts between the tip of Cape York Peninsula and Broome. The TRACK research programme has been developed through close collaboration of researcher and key stakeholders and aims to:
- Increase understanding of natural and cultural assets and ecosystem services
- Develop tools for assessing the implications of potential developments
- Identifying opportunities to develop genuinely sustainable enterprises
- Build capacity of researchers and stakeholders in the region
The TRACK research program has seven interconnected themes and is designed to generate and share the knowledge needed by regional NRM bodies, governments, Indigenous communities and industry to underpin the sustainable management of tropical rivers and coastal environments while fostering opportunites for the regions' people to develop improved and sustainable livelihoods.
The Communication and Integration Theme of TRACK is a cross-cutting theme focussing on communication, adoption and integration of knowledge. This includes co-ordination and integration of the knowledge and adoption activities across themes, and the knowledge management and communication among researchers and with/between stakeholders and landowners, particularly regional NRM bodies and Indigenous land managers. The theme will also coordinate training and capacity building activities.
The contribution of the knowledge and adoption manager will be vital to the success of the TRACK initiative and Land & Water Australia's Tropical Rivers Programme.
