Workshops and Forums

Past Events

The Knowledge for Regional NRM Program has been involved in a number of workshops and forums. These events have provided opportunities for regional NRM bodies, NRM Facilitators and other NRM professionals to share information face-to-face and to build connections.

Social and economic information for Regional NRM

A social and economic workshop for regions was held 4-5 July 06 at the Bardon Conference Centre, Mt Coot-tha Brisbane.

Regions have identified a need for a socio-economic workshop through recent surveys, forums, workshops and direct feedback. This workshop will provide regional NRM bodies with an update about some of the current socio-economic research relevant to them. It will also provide them with an opportunity to share their stories with each other and discuss their needs with researchers and information providers.

The workshop was organised by a steering committee with representatives from national information providers and has also received input from a regional focus group.

North Australian Forum

"Crossing boundaries…building NRM investment"

The North Australia Forum was held in Darwin, May 2006. It was jointly funded by Land & Water Australia (through the Knowledge for Regional NRM Program), the Australian Government NRM Team and the Northern Territory Regional NRM Body. The forum brought together regions from across northern Australia and gave them the opportunity to network, share knowledge, discuss challenges and identify opportunities for shared and increased NRM investment with one another. Participants came away from the Forum with new information, expanded networks and many ideas for dealing with the challenges of managing NRM in the north.
