The development of two Bayesian Network models used as a decision-support tool for determining environmental flows in major rivers in Australia are reported on. The first eFlows BN model was for the Latrobe River in Victoria, a river system that is highly regulated and flow-stressed. This model was designed to assist decision-makers in deciding upon priority flow regimes that need to be reinstated to improve the ecological health of this river system. The eFlows BN model for the Daly River, Northern Territory was for an unregulated river, with only a small volume of water currently extracted annually for agriculture, but with considerable pressure for further agricultural development in the catchment.
