Wet tropics - regional report card (Apr 2007)

This regional report card provides a two page summary for each of the Wet Tropics assets. The first page is devoted to a description outlining the goals for, and the status and trends in, the condition of the asset. These sections have been developed by the FNQ NRM Ltd theme leaders, and show the steps and actions that FNQ NRM Ltd are taking that will lead to the assessment of asset condition. The key drivers impacting the asset are identified, as well as the major regional responses being implemented to achieve the goals. A success story has also been included to highlight the positive achievements arising from NRM investment. Some of this information was sourced from the Australian Government Department of the Environment and Water Resources (DEW) through their mosaic mapping project.

The second page is devoted to the spatial analysis of the asset condition. It has been designed to provide as much information as possible about the sub-components that were used and how they may be combined to provide the overall asset condition. The spatial page includes a mock-up map of asset condition. This information is presented as a mock-up, as appropriate indicators are still being discussed and suitable regional scale data sets are scarce. This will be populated by the regional group as data and results become available. While the asset condition information is a mock-up only, the map includes the actual location of management actions. These management actions have been categorised by the type of activity, which are on-ground works, resource assessment and capacity building.
