Product Information
The objective of this project was to investigate the use of long term satellite images to develop nationally consistent, interpreted data and information products to support reporting on the Natural Resource Management (NRM) programs National Monitoring and Evaluation Framework - Matters for Target. These include condition and trend products as well as providing baselines and contextual information for regional planning and target setting processes.
This project (DET25) was commissioned by the National Land & Water Resources Audit to investigate the usefulness of long time satellite imagery archives for the production of nationally consistent information products. Specifically these products were to be aligned to reporting on the indicators being developed under the National Natural Resource Management Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
This is an initial investigation only and is not meant as a comprehensive study. It is hoped that this report provides guidance and ideas for those responsible for collating information and reporting on the condition and trend of Australia’s natural resources.
