Developing a vision and roadmap for an Australian Natural Resource Information Infrastructure (ANRII)

The Audit, in collaboration with ANZLIC – the Spatial Information Council, has compiled this report as a background document for progressing a vision and roadmap for an Australian Natural Resource Information Infrastructure. This infrastructure will support a number of major initiatives, including:

• reporting on the condition and trend of Australia’s natural resources under the National Natural Resource Management Monitoring and Evaluation Framework;
• evaluating the appropriateness and effectiveness of significant investments under the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality, and the Natural Heritage Trust;
• the National Water Commission’s proposed development of an Australian Water Resource Information System; and
• the information-related issues raised in the national State of Environment Report 2006.

This report aims to raise awareness and gain the support and genuine commitment of all governments for an improved Australian Natural Resource Information Infrastructure.
